Kuala Lumpur, 3 November 2018 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) co-hosted a charity golf event to raise funds to provide aid to survivors of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Dubbed Palu Relief Golf, the event was held earlier today at Glenmarie Golf and Country Club in Shah Alam, Malaysia, followed by a dinner in conjunction with the event.

The charity event was organised in collaboration between DNeX and PeJaM where a sum of RM500,000 will be channelled to MERCY Malaysia’s Tabung Bantuan Bencana Palu to bring humanitarian relief to affected communities in Palu, Sulawesi Indonesia. The sum will be disbursed to MERCY over a period of five years.

In addition, DNeX, through its GoHalal eMarketplace, will pledge food products namely ready-to-cook paste from Abadi Sambal worth RM50,000 to INSAF Malaysia, another non-profit organisation or NGO that is also carrying out relief work in Palu. The co-host of the charity golf event, PeJaM, is a social alliance of golf enthusiasts from Glenmarie who also pursue community work.

The contributions were presented to both recipients at the Palu Relief Golf Dinner, witnessed by Minister of Entrepreneur Development Malaysia YB Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Yusof. DNeX was represented by its Executive Deputy Chairman Datuk Samsul Husin while PeJaM was represented by its President Dato’ Ir Rosli Daud.

“Our hearts go out to survivors of the recent earthquake and tsunami in Sulawesi, Indonesia. We hope that through this fund-raising event, we will be able to make a small contribution to the relief efforts,” said Datuk Samsul Husin.

He said DNeX is committed to supporting programmes to uplift those who are in need, and aligned to the company’s corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), which is targeted at underprivileged communities and educational programmes.

Last year, the company successfully hosted its Muzik4Humanity benefit concert to raise funds for children affected by conflict who are in need of basic care. Proceeds from the benefit concert were channeled to MERCY’s Little Caliph programme in Kandahar, Afghanistan that facilitates provision of nutritional food and education for children affected by conflict.
