Ammar Ghazali is Group Chief People Officer of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”), with effect from 3 April 2023.
He is responsible for leading, formulating and implementing progressive strategies to support DNeX’s Group Human Resources grow its existing talent pool by developing a highly engaged working culture in driving towards becoming a high-performance organisation.
With extensive experience in the administration of Human Resources (“HR”) transformation and employee engagement, he practices inclusivity and values team member’s unique skills and experiences with the aim of building synergy to provide competitive and value-adding services.
He formerly held various management positions with over 25 years of extensive experience in diverse conglomerates, including in Government-Linked Companies and Public Listed Companies, covering diversified industries such as property, industrial, transportation, retail and shipping.
He previously served as Head of Group Human Resources and Administration at M K Land Holdings Bhd in June 2020, and Head of Human Resources and Administration at Jakel Group of Companies between October 2017 and May 2020.
Prior to that, he was Head of Human Resources and Administration at Sime Darby Property Berhad and worked in Sime Darby Industrial Sdn Bhd (formally known as Tractors Malaysia Sdn Bhd), helming various management and managerial positions.
He began his career in a finance-related role in an international shipping company – MISC Berhad in November 1996, before progressing into a managerial position in HR.
Key highlights of his recent experience include his direct involvement in driving engagement transformation & HR best practices, which led to the company being awarded the 2015 Aon Hewitt Best Employer Award and HR Asia Best Companies to Work For in Asia 2015, during his stint at Sime Darby Property Berhad.
A people-oriented person, comfortable working in large structures of a cross-functional team in in diverse cultures, he is capable of operating under tight deadlines with proven track records of achieving stellar performance, focusing on HR functions and Group strategy initiatives, business turnaround and workforce for its productivity and effectiveness.
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Science from International Islamic University, Malaysia (“IIUM”) and a Law Degree (“LLB”) from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia (UiTM). He is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, United Kingdom (CIPD, UK).
