History
A seasoned executive with over 40 years of experience in the medical device and semiconductor industries, Chandra Subramaniam is a dynamic leader with a proven track record of transforming organisational performance across Development Speed, Productivity, Culture, and Business Processes. As Group Vice President of Research and Development, he has consistently delivered exceptional results by managing large, cross-functional teams across diverse cultures, with a focus on innovation, operational excellence, and high-impact business outcomes.
Chandra’s leadership philosophy centres around teamwork, empowerment, and continuous process improvement. He is adept at motivating teams to perform at their highest level, take intelligent risks, and achieve business results that make a meaningful impact. His ability to drive change and optimise performance has earned him a reputation as a transformational leader.
Prior to this role, Chandra served as Group Vice President of R&D, where he led the transformation of two of Medtronic’s largest divisions: Cardiac Rhythm Disease Management (“CRDM”) and Restorative Therapy Group (“RTG”). Under his leadership, these divisions were recognised as industry leaders, and introduced several breakthrough, life-saving devices to the market. In 2010, Chandra was honoured with the prestigious Medtronic Wallin Leadership Award for his exceptional contributions to the company.
Chandra began his career at Hitachi Semiconductor Group in Malaysia, where he worked as a Quality Control Engineer. After three years, he moved to Motorola (now ON Semiconductor), where he spent 20 years in various leadership roles, including Global Vice President of Operations. His leadership at Motorola laid the foundation for his later successes in the medical device sector.
Chandra also serves on the Board of Directors of IceMos Technology Corporation, leveraging his deep expertise in technology and operations to guide the company’s growth and strategic direction.
Chandra holds a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Manchester University, England. He is also a certified Quality Engineer (“ASQC”) and a Certified Reliability Engineer (“ASQC”)
