Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani was appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director and Deputy
Chairman of Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) on 1 August 2023. Prior to this, he was the 13th
Inspector-General of Police (“IGP”) of Malaysia from 4 May 2021 until his early retirement on 22
June 2023.
History
Tan Sri Acryl Sani was a seasoned executive with almost 40 years of experience in the Royal Malaysia Police
(“RMP”). He has held various positions within the RMP, accumulating a wealth of valuable experience and a sound track record in helming numerous leadership roles.
He began his career in RMP as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent in 1986 before working his way up through the RMP, helming various leadership positions, including as Deputy Officer Commanding Police in Kinta District of Perak; Commandant of Kuala Kubu Bharu Police College; Head of Police Forensics; Chief Police Officer of Terengganu; Deputy Director (Intelligence/Operation) for Criminal Investigation Department (“CID”) Unit; Deputy Director Training; and Deputy Director (Investigation/Legal) for CID Unit.
He was appointed as Police Commissioner of Sarawak in 2011, followed by Chief Police Officer of Perak in 2013. Between 2014 and 2018, he became Director of Crime Prevention and Community Policing; Director of
Commercial Crime Investigation; Director of Logistics and Technology; as well as Director of Internal Security and Public Order.
In August 2020, he took on the role of Deputy IGP and was later promoted to the IGP of Malaysia in May 2021.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Science Management from Universiti Utara Malaysia and a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. He also holds a Diploma in Management Science from the National Institute of Public Administration (“INTAN”).
