Datuk Johar has thirty-four years of experience in the banking industry. He began his career in 1975 as an Officer at the Prime Minister’s Department. In 1976, he joined Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”) where he served in various divisions including in senior positions covering transactional banking (operations), retail finance, retail marketing and private banking.
Faiz has more than 30 years of international experience in the oil and gas industry with ExxonMobil primarily in leadership positions in project management and project development planning in Malaysia, North America, Africa and the Middle East.
Kuala Lumpur, 28 February 2018 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Datuk Johar Che Mat as its Independent Non-executive Director.
Datuk Johar has thirty-four years of experience in the banking industry. He began his career in 1975 as an Officer at the Prime Minister’s Department. In 1976, he joined Malayan Banking Berhad (“Maybank”) where he served in various divisions including in senior positions covering transactional banking (operations), retail finance, retail marketing and private banking.
From 1993 to 1995, he was appointed as Regional Manager for Maybank branches in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan. In 1996, he was promoted as General Manager, Commercial Banking Division and subsequently served as Senior General Manager, Corporate Banking and Enterprise Banking Division in 2000.
In 2002 he was promoted as Senior Executive Vice President, Retail Financial Services and later served as Chief Operating Officer of Maybank Group from 2006 to 2010. In 2012, he served as the Board representative of Amanah Raya Berhad until 2015. He was previously a Board Member of EDRA Global Energy Berhad, Bank Pertanian Malaysia Berhad, Proton Holdings Berhad and several other public companies.
He also serves on the Board of several companies including MNRB Holdings Berhad and Asian Finance Bank Berhad. He graduated with a Bachelor of Economics from University of Malaya.
DNeX is also pleased to welcome Encik Faiz Mohamed Kunju as Chief Executive Officer (“CEO”) of its wholly-owned subsidiary OGPC Sdn Bhd.
Faiz has more than 30 years of international experience in the oil and gas industry with ExxonMobil primarily in leadership positions in project management and project development planning in Malaysia, North America, Africa and the Middle East.
His experience in project management and leadership responsibilities covered both the onshore and offshore segments of the upstream business and included managing relationships with key stakeholders such as government agencies, joint venture partners and National Oil Companies.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, United States of America.
Faiz is replacing Encik Azman Karim as CEO of OGPC. Azman has also left his role as Executive Director of DNeX to pursue other interests. DNeX extends its appreciation to Azman for his service throughout his tenure.
