DNeX and State-owned Enterprise Shanghai E&P International sign Heads of Agreement for cross-border trade digitalisation to support Malaysia-China digital trade growth

Shanghai, 22 May 2025 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) through wholly-owned subsidiary Dagang Net Technologies Sdn Bhd has signed a Heads of Agreement with Shanghai E&P International, Inc. to collaborate on key digital trade initiatives between Malaysia and China.

This collaboration follows the recent visit by President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to Malaysia, underscoring renewed commitment to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen economic and digital cooperation between the two countries.

Under the agreement, formalised in Shanghai earlier today, both parties will focus on the following areas:

    1. Cross-border Visualisation of Sea Freight Logistics Movement – Enabling enhanced visibility and tracking of sea freight logistics movement and assessing the carbon footprint impact between Malaysian and Chinese ports.
    2. Cross-border Clearance Facilitation and Connectivity – Strengthening cooperation on processes to reach clearance and establishing connectivity with Shanghai and other regional e-ports in China.
    3. Trade Documents Exchange – Facilitating seamless exchange of trade documents to enhance efficiency in both trade and non-trade processes.

Aligned with the broader strategic goals discussed during President Xi’s visit to Malaysia, the initiatives being explored by both parties hold strong potential to enhance supply chain efficiency, deepen digital trade integration, and reinforce connectivity between the two countries. These efforts can lead to improved visibility, faster clearance times, reduced carbon emissions, and substantial cost savings.

By leveraging digitalisation and strengthening connectivity, businesses can minimise manual errors, optimise routes, and streamline operations. The result is not only financial benefit but also the promotion of a more environmentally sustainable supply chain thus creating value for both businesses and consumers.

According to Faizal Sham Abu Mansor Group Chief Executive Officer of DNeX, the partnership will unlock new opportunities for seamless cross-border trade and exchange, providing businesses with streamlined processes, enhanced supply chain transparency, and improved operational efficiency.
