Kuala Lumpur, 13 July 2015 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) undertook several Community Programmes in the month of Ramadan this year as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (“CSR”), which focused on providing assistance to the underprivileged.
The programmes started with a three-day Ramadan Charity Bazaar, located at its office in Bangsar South, offering food items, fashion wear and home decorations suited for Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
Items sold at the charity bazaar also included books and flowers, plants and pottery sourced from the nursery of Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah, a home for orphans, abandoned children and single mothers in Puchong. Proceeds from sales at the Bazaar will be channeled to underprivileged children from several homes and schools in the Klang Valley. Following suit the charity bazaar was a breaking of fast programme and Tarawikh prayers with residents at Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah.
DNeX’s Community Programmes for Ramadan this year ended on a high note with Hari Raya Aidilfitri shopping for a group of underprivileged children from three schools namely SK Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, SMK Cheras Perdana and SK Taman Desa Baiduri. The children were all smiles when treated to new clothes and shoes in preparation of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and of course duit raya. The shopping programme was in collaboration with Yayasan Bunga Raya.
DNeX’s Community Programmes provide an avenue for the company to balance its business objectives with the need to contribute to the well-being of the community. The company’s programmes in recent years include:
- providing assistance to Aljamiyatul Washliyah, an orphanage located in Medan,Indonesia, which is the home of some 500 children
- providing assistance to institutions nationwide to enable underprivileged children to gain fair access to education and maximise their growth potential
- providing school materials to a group of orang Asli children as well as books for school library
- working together with Badan Kebajikan Islam Kastam (BAKISKA) since 2007 to provide back-to-school supplies such as school uniforms, bags and stationeries to school children
