Kuala Lumpur, 11 January 2016 – Dagang NeXchange Berhad (“DNeX”) recently celebrated Maulidur Rasul with a group of underprivileged children in collaboration with Persatuan Jawa Melayu Malaysia (“PEJAM”).
Some 45 children from Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah, a home for orphans, abandoned children and single mothers located in Puchong, participated in the celebration, which programme included a special Takzirah or spiritual & motivational talk, followed by a lunch treat. At the event, the organisers also presented a small donation to the shelter.
Pusat Jagaan Baitul Hidayah is managed through funds sourced from contributions as well as proceeds from its own entrepreneurial endeavours namely sales from its plant nursery, used clothes and a small catering business, manned by residents who have formal culinary training from a nearby Community College.
DNeX’s Community Programmes provide an avenue for the company to balance its business objectives with the need to contribute to the well-being of the community. The company’s programmes in recent years include:
- Ramadan Charity Bazaar, which proceeds were channeled to underprivileged children from several homes and schools in the Klang Valley, whose residents were also treated with Hari Raya shopping
- providing assistance to Aljamiyatul Washliyah, an orphanage located in Medan, Indonesia, which is the home of some 500 children
- providing assistance to institutions nationwide to enable underprivileged children to gain fair access to education and maximise their growth potential
- providing school materials to a group of orang Asli children as well as books for school library
- working together with Badan Kebajikan Islam Kastam (“BAKISKA”) since 2007 to provide back-to-school supplies such as school uniforms, bags and stationeries to school children
